About the team

The Infrastructure Delivery Branch is responsible for the project management and construction of capital works for all customer and community facing infrastructure classes. 

The Community Facilities and Open Space Delivery unit is responsible for delivering infrastructure projects in the categories of parks, sports facilities, lighting, tourist parks, public amenities, libraries, seawalls, boardwalks, landfill cells, waste and recycling centres, community centres, basketball courts, pump tracks, seats and shelters, drinking fountains and BBQs. The unit is also responsible for administering the City’s Local Area Works (LAW) program.

Through sound leadership and planning, the Coordinator – Community Facilities and Open Space Delivery provides high-level coordination of project management services for the delivery of the capital works program in a cost effective and timely manner, and in accordance with the organisational objectives of Council.
  • Manage a team of project managers who deliver major or minor building works, and local area works projects and provide early planning and feasibility advice to Councillors and clients.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the team on all project phases from inception to delivery to meet project timeframes and budgets.
  • Develop and continuously improve how the team delivers projects to achieve efficiencies and value for money for its clients.
  • Manage team progress on project delivery including monitoring of time, budget/cost, risks, quality, scope and communication.
  • Ensure the team adhere to Council’s policies and procedures, legislation, standards and requirements.
  • Manage, monitor and review the local area works program and local area works policy.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Councillors and clients to ensure open and ongoing communication and a team approach to project delivery.
  • Develop and maintain a team environment that encourages continuous improvement and aligns with the City’s high-performing principles.
  • Lead, coach and mentor team members and foster a culture where high performance and health and safety are the priorities.

We're looking for people who have:

  • An Advanced Diploma in Project Management or have demonstrated equivalent business experience and knowledge.
  • A Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Management or have demonstrated equivalent business experience and knowledge.
  • A natural leader who champions change and develops people to achieve their personal and organisational goals.
  • You manage, motivate and assess performance of team members, ensuring effective and efficient management and development.
  • The ability to build and maintain relationships with service owners, asset custodians, service providers and internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge and experience in procurement and contract administration of infrastructure construction and service programs/projects.
  • You are a “can do” person who thrives on innovatively solving problems in a complex environment.
  • Ability to bring in new ideas and challenge the status quo to bring about continuous improvement.
  • You will hold a C Class Drivers Licence Unrestricted
  • You will hold a General Construction Induction White Card (desirable)
