The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest Council’s in NSW with the most culturally, socially and economically diverse communities in Sydney. We deliver 21 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 370,000 residents.  

The role

Participate in day-to-day activities and operations of the library team and assist in developing, implementing and evaluating Aged and Disability services, programs and projects, which include the Home Library and Bus to the Library Services. We are looking for someone who has a passion for high quality customer service and will ensure the library collections are relevant to the needs of the community.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide high-quality customer-focused and professional service in the library
  • Plan and deliver programs and activities for aged customers and those with disability
  • Promote library services and resources to the community
  • Support day-to-day library operations
  • Support the team in managing the Home Library and Bus to the Library Services
  • Liaise with relevant teams to provide information services
  • Be adaptable and flexible to accommodate change
  • Identify issues and recommend solutions for continual improvement of processes
  • Assist with the maintenance of library collections to ensure relevance to community needs

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Library and Information Science allowing professional membership of ALIA or other relevant tertiary qualifications appropriate to this position
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence
  • Working with Children Check
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to delivering quality customer service in a cross-cultural customer service environment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, business unit customers, team members and partners
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Demonstrated ability in negotiation and conflict resolution skills

The salary range for this opportunity starts at $67,370 per annum (Grade G, Step 1) + 11% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
