Plumber - relocate to Wadeye



Located within the Top End of the Northern Territory, the West Daly Regional Council (Council) covers 14,000 square kilometers and has a population of more than 3700 residents throughout the communities of Wadeye, Nganmarriyanga and Peppimenarti as well as the surrounding 33 homelands, a number of which are serviced by Council.  Wadeye is the largest remote community and the fifth largest town in the Northern Territory.

Based in Wadeye, NT we are seeking an experienced Plumber. The Plumber role entails the provision of water, sewerage, and sprinkler services within the West Daly Regional Council Community. Additionally, the position involves undertaking maintenance activities for various Council assets throughout the West Daly region.

6 weeks annual leave, 11% superannuation, locality allowance, heavily subsidized accommodation, uniforms and relocation assistance on offer for the successful candidate.

Duties and responsibilities as below:

  • Must be willing to relocate to Wadeye Community, NT;
  • Study and analyse blueprints and floor plans to understand the plumbing system and water supply system layout.
  • Navigate the assembly and installation of pipes and tubes without interfering with existing infrastructure.
  • Measure, cut and bend pipe material.
  • Response to plumbing calls from the Council Operations Manager and Community Services Managers
  • Execute the installation, repair, and maintenance of water, sewerage, and sprinkler systems within the West Daly Regional Council Community.
  • Assemble valves, fittings, tubes and water system appliances.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of plumbing tools and equipment to ensure they are in optimal working condition
  • Troubleshoot and fix issues relating to water supply lines.
  • Repair and replace system issues such as clogged drains, faucet problems, and broken drainage lines.
  • Maintain current knowledge of state regulations affecting plumbing work.
  • Collaborate with other Council departments and external stakeholders to coordinate plumbing activities effectively.
  • Work with our expeditor to obtain permits for plumbing work to be performed.

To be successful in the role you:

  • NT Plumber and Drainer Advanced Tradesman Licence (or interstate equivalent)
  • Trade experience relevant to the safe supply of essential services (water and sewerage).
  • Experience with operation of excavators and/or backhoe.
  • Experience writing summary of works reports.
  • Working in Confined Spaces Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Working at Heights Ticket (or willingness to obtain).
  • Current Northern Territory Driver’s Licence (HR licence desirable).
  • National Criminal History Check clearance.
  • Current Working with Children/Ochre Card.
