  • Reporting to the GM, you will have the opportunity to shape this role and influence change in collaboration with your team
  • Take responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial and fleet related activities
  • Lead business improvement - identifying opportunities to optimise
  • Proactively identify revenue and expense opportunities and escalate recommendations to the ELT to drive overall financial performance and targets

Walgett Shire is located in the Outback Region of NSW along the banks of the Barwon and Namoi Rivers. The Shire comprises several towns and villages; including Walgett, Lightning Ridge, Collarenebri and covers an area of approximately 22,000 square kilometres. Each of the towns and villages have their own stories to tell and personalities to meet with the rural charm with country hospitality is found everywhere.

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced CFO to join our Executive team.  You will be a key role of influence within the organisation and enjoy implementing change assisted by our soon to be recruited Manager Finance.  In addition to the normal expectations of a CFO, we are looking for you to perform as our business analyst reviewing any proposals for altered systems and processes and new activity streams. 

Lots of great people to work with, you will ideally be Degree qualified, have experience in a senior finance role, demonstrated ability to advise the Executive Leadership Team on finance strategy, business improvement and change management across all functional areas of the Council and just love rolling your sleeves up and making a huge difference to Council and it’s community.

You will play an integral role in leading and managing our Finance team and be part of our transformation journey that we have recently embarked on with changes in culture, systems and processes just the start.  

This is a great role full of opportunities for the right person. We are offering a competitive salary package in the vicinity of 170k, subsidised housing, fully maintained private use vehicle, relocation assistance plus flexible working hours.
