Precinct Operations and Maintenance Team Leader

Our state-of-the-art facility in Pimpama boasts an aquatics centre with 5 pools, 12 netball courts and clubhouse, 8 competition standard tennis courts and a health and fitness centre. There’s a community centre featuring 2 large multipurpose halls, and an activity room and meeting room for the community to hire and run their regular activities. Our Coomera facility venue offers 8 courts and 8 meeting rooms.  Residents enjoy abundant outdoor spaces where families and friends can meet, socialise and exercise. 

What you’ll be responsible for

As the Precinct Operations and Maintenance Team Leader, you will provide operational support to precinct management staff and key stakeholders to ensure these facilities are safe and well maintained for the community. Duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Maintaining and creating documentation (SOP, SWM) for pool operation (water testing, chemical storage, checklists, WLS).
  • Working with key stakeholders to clearly identify any building or equipment defects to be addressed.
  • Conducting risk assessments through the precinct.
  • Ensuring the asset register is up to date and compliant.
  • Assisting with the planning and implementation of a range of asset management processes and work programs. 
  • Assisting with the operation of building management and security systems for the facilities at the precinct.
  • Assisting with the day to day operational and asset maintenance and management functions of the precinct to ensure the facilities are presented in a fit-for-purpose condition, meets the needs of customers and maximises the whole of life cycle of community assets.  
  • Coordinating and supervising all service providers who are contracted to carry out works at the precinct facilities to ensure that works are carried out in accordance with specifications and relevant legislation with minimal disruption and downtime tothe business and prevent rework.
  • Assisting with operational requirements for the execution of events and activities at the precinct.
  • Ensuring the precinct facilities comply with all legislative requirements including Workplace Health and Safety legislation and meets agreed service levels.
  • Carry out Workplace Health and Safety inspections as required.
  • Actively promote City High Performance Principles and adhere to compliance and safety requirements.

We are looking for people who have 

  • Certificate IV Workplace Health and Safety or demonstrated knowledge and experience in the provision of building operations and/or maintenance service, particularly in aquatic facilities.
  • Pool Plant Operations certificate or knowledge and experience in equivalent equipment.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clear instructions to precinct managers, supervisors, staff and contractors.
  • A genuine passion for delivering high quality service to customers (internal and external) and understand and anticipate customer expectations. 
  • Ability to work productively in a team environment and to foster good working relationships with other team members, clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to deal with the general public and promote a positive image of City. 
  • Strong time management skills to ensure the timely completion of tasks.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant industry standards, policies, guidelines and legislation including Workplace Health and Safety; Royal Life Saving Society of Australia Guidelines for Safe Pool Operation; and Queensland Health Swimming and Spa Pool Water Quality and Operational Guidelines.
  • An understanding you will be required to undertake work outside of standard operating hours dependent upon seasonal requirements and organisational needs, and be available for an on-call roster (applicable allowance payable).
