Leading Hand Minor Works

Mackay Regional Council currently has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Leading Hand to join the Civil Operations Roads and Drainage team, based at the Mirani Depot.

Working under the guidance of the Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing daily supervision to the work crew, who carry out a range of road and drainage construction, maintenance work and other associated civil work duties. These duties including but are not limited to formsetting, concreting, signs, bus shelters, headwalls, aprons, drainage pipe laying and any other maintenance issues that may arise.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• "Certificate 3 in Civil Construction or willing to obtain through council’s initiative training program
• "Current QLD Manual car C Class Open Drivers Licence
• "Current QLD Medium Rigid Truck MR class licence
• "Current General Construction Safety White Card
• "Good Experience in Supervising small to medium size work crews
• "Substantial demonstrated experience in construction/maintenance of roads and drainage infrastructure.
• "Qualification/Competency in formsetting and/or good experience in formsetting

Candidates who hold or are willing to obtain Plant operator certificates for competencies such as roller, loader, backhoe, grader will be highly regarded.
