About the Department and Branch:

The Sewage Treatment Plant Operator position is located within our Infrastructure Gold Coast Department.  This department is operated by specialists who plan, design, build, maintain and operate our physical infrastructure, creating a safe and accessible city that meets the needs of our community now and in the future.  You’ll join the Infrastructure Operations branch and with a collaborative team, be responsible for operating the city’s sewage treatment plants. 

About the position:

Responsible for the operation of city’s Sewage/Recycled Water Treatment Plants, your duties include managing site activities, maintenance, running of treatment plant process streams, and onsite staff and contractors. 

This role offers a weekly base salary of $1,288.47 to $1,353.65 plus overtime (as required) and Super.  

What you’ll be doing:

The roles and responsibilities of the position include (but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) (including outside normal hours) in accordance with Quality Assurance Systems under remote supervision.
  • Effectively communicate and work with all Supervisors, Operators and Assistants based on the principles of teamwork, cooperation and equity to create a harmonious and productive workplace.
  • Responsible for complying with Council Workplace Health and Safety and Environmental Protection requirements and to pro-actively identify, report and address any safety and environmental issues in the work environment.

What you bring to your new role:

  • Demonstrated experience working within a Sewage Treatment Plant 
  • An ability to work across several different types of treatment process streams at different locations.
  • Certificate III in Water Operations (Wastewater Treatment)  (mandatory requirement)
  • Australian Driver’s Licence Unrestricted C Class (mandatory requirement)
  • WHS Licence General Construction White Card (mandatory requirement)
