He angitūtanga: The opportunity
The Earth, Streams and Trees team is part of the Specialist Unit in the Resource Consents Department and is based in the CBD. The team is involved in a wide range of development projects, including major subdivisions and nationally significant infrastructure projects. We cover the entire Auckland region and are passionate about preventing and minimising environmental risks to trees whilst promoting sustainable development in a fast-growing city. You will be working with a wide range of customers across the region, assessing and providing specialist technical input into complex resource consents in regard to trees to ensure their appropriate protection is achieved in accordance with the provisions of the Auckland Unitary Plan (Operative in Part). Working in a dynamic team environment, this role is varied and motivating. This role would suit an individual with several years’ experience in the arboricultural industry. Experience of tree evaluation in urban and rural contexts would also be an advantage. You will be expected to work with applicants and planners to seek the best practical environmental outcomes using a proactive and solution-driven approach. You must be competent in critically evaluating complex proposals in consent applications. While initially based in the CBD, there is flexibility in terms of working locations including Henderson and Manukau.
