About the role:
An exciting opportunity has become available for a passionate and enthusiastic hospitality professional to join the multi-award-winning precinct at the Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre (MECC) as a casual Catering Officer. You will assist in delivering a positive and successful front of house experience, via consultation with internal and external clients, across multiple venues (MECC, stadium and offsite). Ensuring that the MECC brand and all supporting services are delivering in a timely, professional, and proactive manner.
About the MECC
The Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre (MECC) is a state-of-the art multi-million-dollar precinct which provides unique settings for conferences, exhibitions, seminars, and banquets. The facility consists of many versatile spaces including a 1090 seat theatre, 100 seat studio space, two plenary halls which when fully extended seats approx. 1500 people, two dedicated foyers, bars, breakout rooms and extensive front- of-house and backstage facilities. The centre also comfortably accommodates up to 1000 people banquet style.
The successful applicant will have the following:
• Demonstrated experience in food and beverage, set up, preparation and delivery, functions and events, preferably in an institutional environment eg: 4 star hotel or banquets/functions venue
• Strong administration skills, ability to build rapport and effective working relationships and an eye for detail
• Experience in maintaining stock levels, reordering and accepting stock deliveries
• Demonstrated experience supervising a team, leading by example so that staff are motivated to perform their tasks in an efficient manner.
• Current QLD First Aid Certificate.
• Current Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate.
• Current QLD ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence.
