The position will be based in Port Hedland, a town of rich heritage, spectacular landscapes, friendliness, a diverse and embracing community and relaxed lifestyle. As the largest bulk export port in the world, the town is home to global resource leaders and is significant to the national interest.

 

About the role

An exciting opportunity is now available to join Town’s Environmental Health team within the Regulatory Services directorate for fixed term period. This role is responsible to deliver a fire break inspection and follow up program for the Town of Port Hedland to ensure land within the district complies with the fire break requirements as established in the Bush Fires Act 1954.

 

About you

We are looking for someone who is qualified and have demonstrated experience in the management of fire related activities including fire prevention and asset protection. You will also have the following traits:

  • A dynamic individual who is passionate about living and working in this fascinating part of Australia.
  • Being a hardworking professional with a strong ethos for team work
  • High standards of customer service with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Experience in using fire mitigation and prevention measures to achieve compliant asset and land protection
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, together with demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Experience working in Local Government would be advantageous

 

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • C Class Driver’s Licence
  • National Police Clearance
