Team Leader - Parks Performance

The Invercargill City Council is currently looking for a Team Leader to oversee our passionate Parks Performance team and act as an ambassador for our premier parks and reserves.


The Team Leader - Parks Performance is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the performance of Council's parks and reserves. This role is specifically responsible for overseeing asset maintenance activities, including monitoring and reporting on both assets and performance, to deliver expected levels of service; delivering capital projects works; and ensuring effective relationship management with park users. You will actively promote the services offered by the Parks and Recreation Division, encouraging your team to do the same, taking any opportunity to promote our parks and reserves.


Our ideal candidate will have a proven passion for leading and developing people to bring out the best in their team. You'll also have demonstrated skills in engaging with the community, managing various scales of projects and a sound understanding of asset management.


To succeed in this position you will have:

  • A passion for supporting events and the community to make things happen in our Parks;
  • Demonstrated experience in managing assets in relation to Parks and Reserves (or similar);
  • Proven experience in leading, managing and supervising team members and implementing efficiencies within the work force;
  • Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining relationships with user groups, including public and/or group presentation skills;
  • Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation and implementation;
  • Demonstrated ability to produce concise, accurate and timely reports, both in verbal and written form;
  • Proven experience monitoring, analysing and reporting on asset and service performance using a performance management framework; and
  • Proven experience in Project Management.


Our ideal candidate will also have a tertiary qualification in an applicable area such as Parks and Recreation Management or similar.
