About the role

This position is a full-time role in the Waste Services team, based at the Brou Waste Management Facility. The successful candidate will competently supervise the operations of Council’s Waste Management facilities.

Your main duties will include:

  • Manage and supervise operational staff and coordinate staff rosters.
  • Supervise and assist with the implementation of the Site Operation Plan and monitor the operational and environmental performance of the site in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Plan, control and organise construction projects and maintenance/renewal works.
  • Stock control, collection and storage of goods, sale of goods and data collection at the Buy Back Centre.
  • Undertake administrative tasks relating to the waste landfill activities.
  • Supervise and assist with the diversion of recoverable materials from the landfill and reduce contamination in stockpiles.
  • Operate and maintain the weighbridge and manage waste streams entering the waste facility in accordance with Council guidelines and policies.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Ensure that buildings, equipment and tip grounds are maintained in a clean and safe condition.

Salary information

Total remuneration for the role is in the range $3,231.29 to $3,517.40 gross per fortnight consisting of:

  • $2,816.53 to $3,074.29 base salary
  • $94.54 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance
  • $320.22 to $348.57 superannuation (at 11%)

When required by Council, participation in an on call roster is part of this position. An allowance is paid when on call. A fully maintained Council vehicle for to/from home use is also available!

An offer of employment for this position is subject to medical clearance to verify that you are safely able to undertake the duties of the position as well as a
 satisfactory outcome as a result of a National Criminal History Record Check.

About you

Do you have experience in civil construction, earthmoving, resource recovery, recycling or landfill operations? Are you a born leader with demonstrated management experience? Do you have great organisation and project management skills ? This may be your next role! To be successful in this role your application will clearly demonstrate the following:

  • Proven experience leading a small team and fostering positive workplace behaviours.
  • Supervising contractors to complete operational projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience operating small and large plant, mechanical equipment and hand tools.
  • Demonstrated ability in completing workplace documents in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ability to operate weighbridges, or similar data management systems,  including cash handling skills.
  • Experience in managing environmental controls on construction sites including water management and sediment control.
