Pest Management Officer



Key Responsibilities

Shall include, but not be limited to:

  • Control environmental weeds, Biosecurity Risks (invasive biosecurity matter – plants and animals) under guidelines set down by the relevant acts, regulations and Council’s Pest Management Plan.
  • Ensure that safe and efficient work practices are used in accordance with the current Workplace Regulation.
  • Ensure maximum utilisation and priority usage is made of Council owned plant.
  • Monitor job sites and ensure that all plant equipment is utilised with the utmost efficiency and effectiveness and that safety is always a priority to the operator.
  • Determine in conjunction with the Foreman or Supervisor, the organisation of Council’s fleet of machines, individual plant and equipment requirements.
  • Liaise with the Workshop Supervisor for the servicing and repair of Fleet Plant.
  • Become familiar with all areas within the boundaries of the Mackay Regional Council and implement Council’s Pest Management Plan/Biosecurity Management Plan.
  • Conduct promotional activities at public forums and educational talks to Council staff and the public in relation to invasive biosecurity matter .
  • Carry out inspections of proposed development assessments for Biosecurity Risks.
