Building Asset Officer

  • Building Science Diploma or relevant experience required

Located 16 km's north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and is set in one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.


Council is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the role of Building Asset Officer.


Reporting to the Building Asset Coordinator, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Asset management and condition auditing
  • Tender documentation and administration
  • Financial/budget management
  • Oversee the supervision and coordination of Contractors for Building Capital Works and minor maintenance
  • Oversee the supervision and coordination of Essential Service contracts
  • Actively participate in ensuring that the administrative requirements of the Building Services are completed

Required Qualifications/Certificates:

  • TAFE Associate Diploma Building Science or related field, or experience in Civil Infrastructure Maintenance and construction
  • Current Class C Driver's Licence
  • Construction White Card

Required experience/skills:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in Building Trades, Civil/Structural Engineering, Asset Management or Maintenance Services
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of Essential Services compliance and certification requirements
  • Ability to interpret plans and specifications
  • Ability to undertake purchasing and procurement tasks
  • Ability to categorise and rate the condition of Building Assets
  • Ability to prepare indicative estimates
  • Proficient in using asset management systems such as NAMS Plus, Building Plus (SPM), MEX or similar
  • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment


This is a great opportunity for a hands-on person to work collaboratively in a team and contribute to the management of Council's Building Assets.


This position is 35 hours per week with access to flexi time.
