Sports And Facilities Officer



The Town of Port Hedland is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individuals who have an interest in joining our Facilities team. This position will be a fixed-term contract covering maternity leave for a period of six months, with the possibility of short-term extension. The position will provide operational business support and coordinate the use of sport and recreation facilities whilst assisting the local sporting community to develop projects and programs to improve the management, capacity and governance of sport and recreation activities within the Town.


To be successful in this role, you will need a highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, tertiary qualification or relevant industry experience, demonstrated experience in successful, development and implementation of programs and events that meet community needs, practical knowledge of community consultation and engagement strategies, demonstrated experience in sourcing grants and sponsorship and clear understanding of the organisation and governance principles affecting clubs and not for profit organisations.


As this position will, or is likely to involve contact with children, the preferred applicant will be required to obtain a Working with Children (WWC) Card. In addition, the preferred applicant will need to pass the pre-employment check which includes provision of a satisfactory National Police Clearance, ‘C’ class manual driver’s licence and complete a pre-employment medical.


The successful candidate will receive a pro rata salary of $90,678.64 per annum. The remuneration package also includes six weeks annual leave plus 17.5% leave loading (pro-rata based), wellness program which includes discounted gym membership and pool passes, superannuation co-contribution scheme, training and professional development opportunities, family oriented and lifestyle supportive working conditions.


This position is not eligible for subsidised housing or housing allowance. Prospective applicants should make themselves aware of the accommodation situation in Port Hedland prior to submitting an application.
