Senior Stakeholder Engagement Advisor


About your new role

This role combines knowledge and expertise in communications, stakeholder engagement, community engagement and public participation with continuous improvement skills or other transferrable skills. The role is focussed on establishment of the External Stakeholder Engagement Business Unit as a centre of excellence for engagement within the City of Gold Coast (City). 

No two days in this role will be the same. With an initial focus on establishing a centre of excellence across all engagement disciplines the candidate will work with the External Stakeholder Engagement Business leadership team to refine the internal service model, develop tools, frameworks and practices that support the effective and efficient delivery of engagement within the City.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to pivot based on the priority of the day and apply their technical and transferrable skills to deliver on specific engagement priorities, including but not limited to behaviour change program design, complex and signature project engagement planning and execution, and delivery of community engagement programs across the whole of the City.

We're looking for people who have:

  • Experience or the ability to quickly develop skills to provide strategic advice, support, and project liaison for key external stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of stakeholder and community engagement principles and processes. 
  • Proven experience in the development of business improvement initiatives and the development of frameworks, tools and practices that enhance stakeholder and community engagement and other customer disciplines.
  • Proven experience in understanding and responding to the needs of diverse internal stakeholders including senior executive leaders.
  • Experience in reviewing and developing stakeholder and community engagement strategies and communication management plans across multiple disciplines.
  • The ability to effectively communicate and implement change to processes, procedures and practices across multiple disciplines.
  • The ability to use data and insights to prioritise improvements to processes, procedures and practices as it relates to External Stakeholder Engagement.
  • Self-motivated and demonstrated initiative and the ability to foster enthusiasm among your colleagues.
