Full-time (average of 38 hours per week)

The Opportunity

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Landfill Plant Operator to join our Operations Team to provide excellent customer services whilst undertaking plant operation tasks at the Kununurra Landfill site and assisting with landfill attendant services. This role is responsible for:

  • Maximising the efficiency of the plant and machinery on all tasks;
  • Constructing and maintaining landfill storm water swale drains, retention ponds and internal roads;
  • Compacting waste at the landfill tip face, pushing up of waste and recyclable material and operating the water and hook lift trucks on a daily basis;
  • Providing high quality customer service to residents, contractors and business owners at all times (face to face, via phone or in writing) in accordance with the Shire’s Customer Service Charter.

A Certificate III in Civil Construction and/or Waste Management, current Blue/White Construction Safety Card and unrestricted WA ‘HR’ Class Driver’s Licence are essential for this role, as is demonstrated experience in the safe operation and user maintenance of medium to large mechanical plant and experience and knowledge of waste site procedures and relevant legislation  You will have highly developed customer service skills, good time management skills, developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and a passion for safety in the workplace.

We are offering a remuneration package inclusive of allowances and Superannuation of up to $90,000 (dependent on skills and experience) per annum.
