Manager Planning Scheme


About your new role

As the Manager Planning Scheme, you will be responsible for leading a team of specialists to prepare the new Planning scheme for the City of Gold Coast. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing its overall direction, governance and compliance with the legislative requirements of the Planning Act 2016 and Ministers Rules and Guidelines, State Planning Policy and ShapingSEQ2023.   

You will work closely with policy owners from across council and with State departments, the industry and community to prepare a new Planning scheme that will shape the future of the Gold Coast. 
You will lead and manage a team of specialists’ land use planners, driving performance through high-level leadership and stakeholder management to ensure the new Planning scheme is forward thinking, embraces the vision and values that make Gold Coast unique and is drafted to be user friendly and governs development through clear and concise planning provisions.

We're looking for people who have:

  • Demonstrated experience and capability in the leadership and development of new planning scheme in Queensland. 
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing and relationship building skills to effectively work with a variety of stakeholders with differing priorities/views, gather required and relevant information and provide recommendations advice. 
  • Demonstrated experience and capability in community engagement activities that support the preparation of the new Planning scheme in consideration of various community, industry and State stakeholder interests. 
  • Experience working with competing priorities, with the ability to organise and prioritise work, to deliver expected outcomes in a timely manner. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication with the ability to convey technical information in simple terms to a variety of stakeholders, to effectively influence and align communication. 
  • Collaborative and consultative approach to work.
