Position Purpose

In this position you will work as part of the Leisure Centre Team ensuring a high level of aquatic and other fitness services are provided to the public.

You will assist in the development and implementation of fitness and recreation programs and provide a high level of customer service, whilst ensuring the maintenance of a healthy and safe environment for users and employees at the facility.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications required for the role

Essential

  • Demonstrated communication and customer service skills;
  • Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to set priorities, plan and organise self in order to effectively undertake and complete multiple tasks as agreed;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with computer operations and administrative tasks with the ability to follow set processes and procedures (including those that involve cash handling);
  • Knowledge and experience in the promotion and programming of recreation and aquatic initiatives;
  • Demonstrated physical fitness to enable you to perform appropriately in a rescue or training situation;
  • Ability to work as an active team member;
  • Ability to drive between Wyndham and Kununurra, at times on a regular basis;
  • Knowledge of the use and safe handling of chemicals.

Qualifications, Memberships and Licenses

  • Western Australian Pool Lifeguard Qualification or similar from interstate;
  • Pool operations certificate Group 1 (or ability and willingness to obtain);
  • Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus and Chlorine Gas;
  • Current HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid Certificate;
  • Current WA Working with Children Check;
  • Current unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a similar role;
  • Swimming Instructor and Aqua Aerobics qualifications;
  • LIWA Accreditation/Membership (Leisure Industry of Western Australia);
  • Fitness qualifications (Certificate III Fitness Instructor or Certificate IV Fitness).

Vaccinations

  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • ADT (Diphtheria, Tetanus and Whooping Cough)
