School Crossing Supervisors


  • Permanent Part Time and Casual – during school days 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. The option of 5 or 10 hours per week
  • Salary for 10 hours is approximately $385.90 - $395.80 based on a Band 1 Salary Range plus 11% Super (pro rata if part time)
  • Salary is annualised so payments continue throughout the school holiday period. 
  • Roles located across the City of Port Phillip area.

About the Organisation

The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more. About the Role

The City of Port Phillip is seeking a reliable individual to act as a School Crossing Supervisors. This position carries the responsibility of ensuring the safety of pedestrians and children on their way to and from school as well as teaching the importance of road safety. The role requires availability Monday to Friday on school days, 8am – 9am and 3pm – 4.00pm.

We currently have both permanent/part time and casual positions available.

Skills and Experience

  • The ability to learn and understand the Vic Roads guidelines relating to school crossing operations.
  • Experience and a desire to work with children and/or the general public.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with children and their carers.
  • Ability to exercise personal judgement within agreed standards to respond to a customer’s request on the same day it is received
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the role during all weather conditions. 
  • Reliability to commence work by the start time, and availability for the required hours morning and afternoon.
  • Own transport is desirable

Security Requirements and Professional Obligations

  • Evidence of COVID-19 Vaccination or valid medical exemption in line with City of Port Phillip Vaccination Policy.
  • Complete a National Police Check completed via City of Port Phillip’s Provider.
  • Employee type Working with Children Check
  • Be required to undertake a pre-employment medical check (at the cost of the council)
