Position Purpose

This role is responsible for providing landfill and gate attendant services at the Kununurra Landfill site to ensure the efficient operation of the Waste disposal site. The role will focus on providing high standards of customer service to members of the general public whilst ensuring compliance with Waste Management statutory and regulatory requirements.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications required for the role

Essential

  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and to provide a high level of service to members of the public;
  • Developed numeracy skills;
  • Developed data entry skills and computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications;
  • Ability to work under limited direction to improve and enhance processes and practices, and achieve high quality results by taking a shared responsibility for setting priorities, organising workloads and meeting prescribed or self-imposed deadlines in a team environment;
  • High level written and verbal communication skills that result in effective and appropriate communication with a broad range of people internal and external to the Shire;
  • Ability to work across a seven-day roster.

Qualifications and Licences

  • Current WA unrestricted “C” Class Driver’s Licence;
  • Current Blue/White Construction Safety Card (or ability to obtain);
  • An acceptable National Police Clearance Certificate (dated within the last 6 months).

Desirable

  • Experience and knowledge of waste site procedures and relevant legislation;
  • Current WA unrestricted ’MR’ or ‘HR’ Class Drivers Licence;
  • Current Advanced First Aid Certificate (or ability to obtain);
  • Previous experience working in Local Government.

Vaccinations

  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • ADT (Diphtheria, Tetanus and Whooping Cough)
