Festival & Events Coordinator


The Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre is seeking an innovative, passionate, and experienced festival coordinator to lead our dynamic festivals team in the vibrant events region of Mackay. The Festival and Events Coordinator role is a key position within the MECC and Mackay Regional Council and leads the creation and delivery of our festivals program. A particular focus of this role will be the development, delivery, and evaluation of the highly regarded Mackay Festival of Arts.

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work as part of a high performing team with great culture as part of the MECC Senior Leadership Team
  • Coordinate the planning and delivery of a range of Festivals and Events which include but are not limited to Mackay Festival of Arts, Global Grooves, New Year’s Eve Celebration, and other Council managed events
  • Develop strategies to ensure Festivals and Events are relevant to the community and are well attended and manage the budgets relating to these events
  • Coordinate development, implementation and review of targeted promotions and events including achieving a degree of external funding and / or sponsorship for key events and activities.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders such as City Centre businesses, tourism operators, Council staff, potential investors, residents, and visitors.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of large-scale festivals and events and a Degree Qualification in Event Management or relevant suitable experience
  • Extensive experience in the development and delivery of marketing strategies aligned with current marketing platforms and trends
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated Project Management experience
  • Staff supervision experience
  • Working with Children Blue Card
  • Current “C” Class Driver’s Licence.
