Under the guidance of a new General Manager and Executive team, Wingecarribee Shire Council is embarking on the implementation of a strategic organisational transformation to position the business to actively plan for and manage significant positive changes to its operations and culture, in addition to meeting and satisfying the expectations of our community.

The Development Assessment Planner will undertake the assessment and determination of Development Applications under Part 4 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and where required (and qualifications allow), Certificates relating to multi dwelling residential housing, commercial, industrial development and subdivisions. The role also includes the provision of high-level technical advice to both internal and external clients of the Council on Planning matters in order to comply with the Group’s customer service obligations. The position will report to and assist the Manager Development Assessment by participating in a business transformation model to achieve cultural change and succeed in accomplishing agreed service delivery outcomes.

The salary for this position is $83,927 p.a to $97,355 p.a. dependent on skills, experience and qualifications.

About You

You hold tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, Science or equivalent discipline with a minimum 3 to 5 years’ demonstrated experience in Town Planning / Development Assessment, within a local government context. You demonstrate the ability to be resilient under work pressures and have analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to critically analyse issues and implement appropriate solutions.

You have used IT systems for the production of consents including development assessment processing and mapping systems (GIS) and have highly developed communication skills both written and aural and an ability to negotiate good planning outcomes in a team environment.   

You will have the ability to work autonomously but also in a team environment.  You will be well supported by the Manager Development Assessment and training offered for your growth and development.
