The Shire of Ashburton in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia, covers a land mass approximately half the size of Victoria. There are four towns that the Shire provides services to, those of Onslow, Tom Price, Paraburdoo and Pannawonica. This unique opportunity has arisen as the previous applicant has taken on a role of Chief Executive Officer elsewhere in the State. We are now looking for a suitably skilled and experienced person to join the Shire and build and maintain strong professional relationships with staff, Council, community, and the business sector. ABOUT THE POSITION The Shire of Ashburton is looking to appoint a dedicated individual for a strategic leadership role in its People and Place Directorate. The role will involve itself in managing the Regulatory teams of Council plus Community Development team and work closely with multi-national partners in the Hydrocarbon and Mineral industries. This is a pivotal role and will work closely with the Executive Leadership team of the Shire in a high growth environment. This position will appeal to a collaborative can-do leader with high-level strategic planning experience, strong negotiation skills with strong financial acumen and demonstrated community engagement skills. The successful applicant will need to have an understanding of sustainable local economic development and Local Government governance and legislation as applicable to the position.
