ROADS AND DRAINAGE ENGINEER


We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to utilise their technical and project management skills to ensure quality delivery of our projects and Capital Works within the Roads and Drainage team. 

This is a re-advertised role, previous applicants need not apply.

We are looking for

A qualified civil engineer with experience in all facets of roads and drainage particularly pavements, bitumen sealing, stabilisation and asphalt works. You have an eye for detail but at the same time be able to see the bigger picture and the ability to inspect works, identify defects and quality problems and communicate solutions to teams in a respectful manner. You are a team player with the ability to train, mentor and develop other staff that are less experienced but also enjoy autonomy in your role

 

We are seeking someone who has the following technical abilities:

  • SafeWork Construction Induction Certificate (WHS White Card)
  • Current Class C Driver Licence
  • High level computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • SafeWork accredited Certificate for Prepare a Work Zone Traffic Management Plan

 

About the Role

Full time: 19 day month

Salary: Range from $86,070 to $98,982 pa + 10% super

The primary purpose of the role is to provide a high level of service in the project management and delivery of roads and drainage infrastructure in line with Council’s delivery and operational plans. 

This includes:

  • Project managing and delivering pavement, rehabilitation works, bitumen resurfacing and asphalt works including pre-planning, programming and compilation of all project documentation.
  • Supervising contractors and Council staff and apply highly developed interpersonal skills in dealing effectively with Government departments, community groups and the general public.
  • Delivering a wide range of full service and partial service contracted projects to a consistent high standard using sound engineering, environmental, safety, quality and financial principles.
  • Preparing and administering TfNSW Quality, Safety and Environmental Management Plans competently.
  • Managing Disaster Relief Funding Arrangements (DRFA) including claims submissions, processing, project management, acquittals, estimates and communications with state government agencies.
  • Inspecting Council capital works projects to ensure quality objectives have been satisfied and put in place corrective actions where required.

 

NOTE: As the activities of this position could involve exposure to Hepatitis A and B or Q Fever, the employee will be vaccinated against these hazards or required to provide proof of immunity against these diseases.
