We are currently seeking three Gardeners and a Senior Gardener to join our busy Parks Operations team on a permanent full-time basis. With your genuine interest in horticulture and a passion for working outdoors you'll enjoy the variation these positions provide. You will have a flexible, can-do attitude and the ability to turn your hand to a variety of horticultural activities including planting and caring for trees, shrubs and bedding plants, weed control, pest control, path and track maintenance as well as general gardening and maintenance work.

You will be safety and quality focused, as the operation and maintenance of a range of small to heavy machinery, tools and equipment form part of these positions. Rural fire fighting is an area that our Parks Operations employees may be involved in, therefore experience or an interest in this a will be highly regarded.

A current NZ driver's licence is essential for these positions as is demonstrated experience within the Horticultural industry. Previous experience in traffic management including a Traffic Controller or Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS) certificate would be an advantage but is not essential.

Our ideal candidate for the Senior Gardener position will also hold a tertiary qualification in Horticulture, an Approved Handler and/or Growsafe certificate and Level 1 Basic Traffic Controller certificate. Previous experience in staff supervision will be looked at favourably.

Excellent teamwork, good communication skills and a high level of personal motivation to get the job done are essential for this position. You will be joining a tight-knit group who pride themselves on their quality of work and their contribution to our city.
