Library Engagement and Experience Lead


  • Salary Range Band 7 $104,946 - $117,440 plus 11% Super
  • Permanent Full time opportunity (35 hours per week) 
  • Will be required to work across all sites in the Port Phillip Libraries network
  • Evening and weekend work is a requirement of this role

About the Organisation 

The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more. About the Role

The Library Engagement and Experience Lead provides exceptional leadership to our Adult Programs, Children’s and Youth Services and Communications and Promotions Librarians. You will also lead the strategic development and delivery of activities and experiences that drive community participation and satisfaction across our library service. 

You will bring extensive knowledge and expertise to help shape our programs, services, spaces, and collections to reach the ambitious goals outlined in the Library Action Plan 2021-2026 and to exceed the expectations of our community. 

As an inspirational leader you will embed a human-centred culture of meaningful community engagement within our team to ensure the customer is at the heart of everything we do. You will be passionate about the community building potential of our libraries and will inspire our staff to take the service to the next level. 

Duties:

  • Lead the effective delivery of community learning, participation and outreach programs with an emphasis on partnerships
  • Ensure that programs and activities delivered by team members align with the Library Action Plan 2021-2026 and other relevant Council Plans
  • Lead and support the effective delivery of community engagement and consultation projects and initiatives across the service
  • Lead the service in delivering customer experience improvements and enhancements across all touch points including both physical and digital 
  • Collaborate with relevant Council teams to effectively market and promote library services to reach a broader spectrum of the community 
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and coach team members to build capability and foster a positive working environment

Skills and Experience 

  • Significant industry experience working at a senior level in a library or community development role 
  • Significant experience in leading large and diverse teams in a library or community development setting
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in planning and delivery of community building and community engagement programs 
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to develop, mentor and coach staff
