  • Hourly rate $39.27 – $48.78 (dependent on experience in accordance with the Early Education Employees Agreement 2016)

Mitchell Shire Kindergartens operate quality early childhood education programs for both 3 and 4 year olds throughout our municipality. With facilities at Kilmore, Broadford, Wandong, Wallan, Pyalong and Flowerdale, our children’s services team work hard to provide a warm and inviting environment for all children and families in our community.


As a relief teacher with Mitchell Shire, you will gain invaluable experience in a variety of education settings. As a casual staff member, you will substitute ongoing staff during periods of leave, and we work with you around your availability to offer shifts. Our relief teachers work effectively with other team members, following pre planned programs and lessons, and have the ability to quickly build a rapport with both staff and students. Your passion and interpersonal skills will allow you to provide relief at our centres with minimal disruption to families and children, operating to a pre planned program  


As an Early Childhood Teacher with Mitchell, you will have a thorough knowledge of the needs of young children, the community, families, a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the VEYLDF and the principles of early childhood education, and a demonstrated ability to embed the National Quality Standards into programming and a commitment to best practice.


The successful applicant will be Bachelor qualified, have excellent written and communication skills, an enthusiastic attitude towards the care and education of young children and be able to lead by example.


The successful applicant will be required to obtain an employee Working with Children Check prior to commencement. (This is now mandatory for ALL employees joining Council to meet Child Safe Standards of our Organisation) in addition to current VIT registration.
