About the opportunity

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Floodplain Officer to be part of the dynamic Asset Design team and to contribute to a strong working relationship with internal and external stakeholders about floodplain, drainage and catchment management enquiries.

Qualifications and experience
 

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering, surveying or a related field
  • Considerable practical experience in the undertaking of engineering surveys and minor civil engineering designs and investigations for road and/or drainage works
  • Knowledge and/or experience using GIS and computer-aided design software programs such as Civil CAD, 12D and AutoCad
  • Knowledge and/or experience of land surveying, survey mark management systems, cadastral mapping and land titles systems
  • Understanding in flooding, catchment management, drainage design and investigations
  • Well-developed communication skills in a workplace context
  • Current Class C driver’s license
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations
  • Computer literacy in basic Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn corporate applications
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • A competitive salary range of $1,375.10 - $1,540.00 (Grade 11) per week will be offered based on skills, qualifications and experience
  • 35 hour working week 
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
