WATER ENGINEER



Applications are invited for the position of Water Engineer, based at Council's Administration Centre.  The successful applicant shall be responsible to provide assistance to the Manager Environmental Engineering to ensure that the Council Water and Sewerage functions are carried out in a cost efficient and operationally effective manner to achieve the Environmental Engineering Services Branch objectives.


Applicants should address the following selection criteria:

Essential:

  1. Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering or other related discipline.
  2. Class C Drivers Licence as a minimum.
  3. Experience in dealing with the public.
  4. Good planning, organisational, analytical and decision-making skills.
  5. Report writing skills.
  6. Ability to produce high quality work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  7. Knowledge of computer systems including familiarity with word processing, Excel and the Internet.
  8. Ability to work with Council, governments/ government instrumentalities, private sector, professional bodies, community groups/ community, kindred organisations and industrial bodies.
  9. Ability to work both independently and in cooperation with others.
  10. Well developed communication skills.
  11. Awareness of the dynamics of a customer focused organisation.


Desirable:

  1. Experience in Local Government Engineering Operations including water, sewer, environmental and civil engineering.
  2. Work Health and Safety Induction Training for Construction Work Certificate.


Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2017.  The classification for the position will be in a range from Professional/ Specialist Band 3, Level 3, Grade 16 to Grade 17.  Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $1,598.70 to $1,773.40 gross per week.
