Team Leader Events and Venues



About the position:

The City is seeking a Team Leader Events & Venues who will play a key role in planning, promotion, implementation and execution of community, signature and Mayoral events. The position will oversee two Events & Venues staff and will ensure that events within the City of Greater Geraldton contribute towards creating a vibrant, inclusive and innovative community. Additionally, this position will be responsible for overseeing the activation of City grounds and facilities as well as the booking of City venues.


Key accountabilities:

  • Lead the Events Team to ensure the delivery of high quality planning, preparation and implementation of annual Civic events, signature and Mayoral events across the City of Greater Geraldton.
  • Develop and execute the City’s calendar of events in accordance with the Community Strategic Plan.
  • Identify and apply for funding and sponsorship opportunities and produce high quality reports that respond to donor requirements.
  • Manage the Events & Venues Team Budget, ensuring expenditure remains in accordance with the planned budget and responded to any enquiries on variances from the planned budget.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant should have a degree in Events Management and relevant experience or comprehensive experience in the delivery of events, supervising a team of staff, developing and overseeing risk management plans. As well as high level of interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills with customers and the public. Additionally, the position requires comprehensive knowledge of managing a budget and experience in seeking and acquitting grant funding.


Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.


Remuneration and benefits:

A salary of $73,417 per annum or $37.1544 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
