Food & Beverage Supervisor

The BLaKC Café represents the face of the Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre (BLaKC ) and the Food & Beverage supervisor is an instrumental role in providing a warm welcome and a high level of customer service to all visitors of the Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre including library patrons, Café patrons, function visitors and attendees to the Bryan Brown Theatre.


You will be responsible for the daily management and operation of the Café and the delivery of catering for functions. This includes developing a fresh and dynamic menu selection that meets the needs of the community and is delivered in a consistently high standard in a clean and hygienic environment.


Tasks include but not limited to: 

  • Liaise closely with event customers to develop function packages that not only meet but exceed their requirements

  • Setting up the Café in preparation to trade

  • Meal preparation including cooking for catered events

  • Provide quality service of hot and cold beverages

  • Ensure café area, all equipment and fixtures are properly maintained and cleaned, safe and hygienic at all times.

  • Ensure stock and supplies are maintained at an adequate level to ensure service for daily orders, patrons and special functions

  • Liaise with suppliers in a timely and professional manner

  • Participate in monthly stocktakes and reporting requirements

  • Supervise Café assistants and ensure that staff are applying correct food handling techniques

  • Assist with the training of new staff in all aspects of the Café operations.

  • Be aware of the BLaKC Café’s licensing restrictions and train all staff in their adherence

  • Be aware of laws of sale of alcohol and report all breaches.

  • Identify and initiate improvements to relevant work practices

Essential Criteria

  • Food handling/Food safety Supervisory Certificate

  • Responsible Service of Alcohol RSA Certificate

  • Demonstrated experience in catering, cooking and servicing for functions

  • Demonstrated experience in food handling safe practices

  • Demonstrated experience in the use of coffee machines

  • Demonstrated experience in providing exceptional customer service to ensure a consistent high quality service delivery.
