Environmental Health Officer / Technical Officer

About the Role

Based in Dalby, you will be involved in all aspects of Environmental Health including food safety management, complaint resolution, public health initiatives and environmental protection.

Reporting to the Community Standards Coordinator, you will:

  • take a strategic approach to compliance matters, by dealing with both routine and reactive compliance activities;
  • conduct inspections on food premises and provide training on food hygiene to the public;
  • ensure infection control compliance for personal appearance services, for example tattooists & body piercing;
  • ensure compliance with environmental authorities including plastic product manufacturing and metal recovery, as well as environmental compliance, including noise, dust, and odour complaints;
  • local laws administration to protect the amenity, and wellbeing of our communities, including management of overgrown allotments, public place events, advertising devices; and
  • be dedicated to improving our engagement with our customers.

About you

The successful applicant will have:

  • a relevant Degree / Post-Graduate Certificate / Diploma in Environmental Health or demonstrated experience and suitable qualifications as recognised by Environmental Health Australia;
  • one (1) - two (2) years' experience in a similar role preferable, however graduates are encouraged to apply;
  • superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret legislation and liaise with the public; and
  • excellent organisational skills and will enjoy working in a diverse, complex environment.
