Civic Compliance Coordinator



Council’s Development Services Branch is seeking an enthusiastic person to fill the position of Civil Compliance Coordinator.


Position Objectives

The officer will be responsible for:

  • Leading and coordinating the compliance functions of the Civic Compliance Unit to ensure that the areas of traffic control, local laws, animal management, fire prevention and school crossing supervision are delivered efficiently and effectively.
  • Developing strategies and plans to ensure the high quality delivery of civic compliance services within the municipality, in accordance with the Council Plan.
  • Promoting a safe physical and social environment through community education and, implementation of Council strategies and policies.
  • Building the capacity and expertise of the Civic Compliance Unit in the sensitive use of enforcement and regulatory techniques.
  • Leading the development of policies and procedures.


Qualifications and Experience

Ideally the successful applicant will have the following:

  • A degree or diploma in Management / Local Government or a related discipline or able to demonstrate significant experience in managing teams in a Local Government environment or closely related field.
  • Ability to communicate with staff at all levels within the organisation, contractors, legal practitioners, government agencies and the public in general.
  • An extensive knowledge of relevant supporting regulations and legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A current manual Driver’s Licence.
  • A current Working with Children’s Check or the ability and eligibility to successfully apply for this Check


Salary and Conditions

The position is classified within Band 8 of the Victorian Local Authorities Award 2001 commencing at $103,035.40 per annum plus statutory superannuation.
