About the role

The Aquatic Services Operational Manager is a critical role within our newly formed Sport and Recreation Division at council, it ensures the effective and sustainable management and coordination of Council’s Aquatic Services.

What You Will Be Doing:

This position specifically focuses on: strategic management, leadership, finance, human resources, risk management, promotion and marketing of water safety initiatives as well as providing direction to the day-to-day operations of Council’s Pool Lifeguard Services across our City’s 9 supervised community pools.

This position plays a key role in meeting the recreational, sporting and leisure needs of the community and providing a range and services that will sustain and improve the city’s lifestyle, bio-diversity and natural assets.

You will have:

  • High level operational experience in an aquatic or leisure centre environment.
  • High level project management experience including significant infrastructure project scoping and delivery including management of budgets and programs.
  • Extensive experience in scheduling and resource planning for forward works programs.
  • Extensive change management experience including consultation and deployment of significant change initiatives.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and ability to be agile and responsive to opportunities as they present.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills including negotiation and mediation with a demonstrated ability to resolve conflict.
  • Ability to lead and influence teams to achieve strategic goals.
  • Proven ability to be a self-starter who is able to drive and lead projects to completion without supervision.
  • High level proficiency in the managing and reporting of budgets.
  • Experience in guiding and facilitating difficult conversations.
  • Experience in driving continuous operational and business process improvement
