The Role

Reporting to the Records Co-Ordinator, the purpose of the Archivist position is to support the Records Co-ordinator to streamline Council’s record keeping function in line with Council’s business goals. The position is responsible for planning and organising systems and procedures for the retention and safekeeping of records and their proper disposal.

About You

You will have an Associate Diploma in Business (Records & Information Systems) or demonstrated equivalent experience. You will have strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise using planning and time management. You will have a demonstrated ability to use initiative, create and work independently, and analytical skills.

Essential Criteria

  • Associate Diploma in Business (Records & Information Systems) or demonstrated equivalent experience
  • Sound understanding (GA 39 and GA 45) of archival requirements for physical and digital records in NSW.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in Records Management; specifically with an electronic records and document management system
  • Sound understanding of computer systems and applications (i.e. Technology One and ECM/Ci Anywhere or similar)
  • Knowledge of and experience with legislation relating State Records; Access to Information; Privacy and Personal Information
  • Understanding of best practice and developing standards in recordkeeping, records retention & disposal, and archives management.
  • Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety and Equal Employment Opportunity Principles.
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies and standards in respect of record functions.
  • Experience and knowledge of the State Records Act 1998, Government Information Public Access Act (2009) and PIPP Act (1999) and the Evidence Act 1995 as it relates to electronic records.
