The Role

Reporting to the Corporate Communication, Events and Services Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination and management of all civic and community events, delivering community engagement programs and overseeing event sponsorship. You will act as a trusted advisor to both internal and external stakeholders on the event management process, as well as overseeing the implementation of Council’s Events Strategy and Council’s Events Sponsorship Program.

About you

We are looking for a dynamic and adaptable Events professional who will be able to ‘hit the ground running’. The ideal candidate will be experienced, motivated and focussed on achieving outcomes.

You must have:

  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience in civic and community event management
  • Experience in the development of event policy and procedures as it relates to Local Government
  • Sound understanding of event-related legal, contractual and risk management issues
  • Experience in writing promotional material, organising publicity and public speaking
  • Experience in dealing with media and writing media releases
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft products
  • Experience working with volunteers, voluntary committees and community organisations
  • Knowledge of the funding structure within the events industry as it relates to Local Government
  • Demonstrated ability in developing sponsorship proposals and writing funding grant submissions
  • Photography and video skills including the ability to edit and manage photo and video libraries
