About the role
 

We have a new permanent opportunity in our team for an experienced Principal Hydrogeologist to provide technical expertise enabling effective water source and treated wastewater management investment planning and operations across WA. This role will be based in our Leederville office reporting to the Manager - Resource Investigations. The role will require occasional visits to regional areas to support field investigations and operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

 
  • Provide expert hydrogeological advice to the business relating to water source, water quality and treated wastewater management planning, investigation and operations across the state
  • Provide technical leadership in the research, development and implementation of techniques and processes to ensure and improve water source, water quality and treated wastewater management planning and operations across the business and the wider industry
  • Manage project teams to address complex water source, water quality and treated wastewater management problems and to drive technical innovation as required
  • Research, document and advocate for industry best practice approaches to water source, water quality and treated wastewater planning and operations
  • Develop and update training requirements for specialist knowledge areas and lead the development of improved techniques in water source, water quality and treated wastewater management planning and operations
  • Provide technical mentoring of people and support the development and maintenance of a framework for the competencies and skills required to meet business objectives
 

Key Skills and experience

 
  • Degree level qualification in geology, hydrogeology or relevant equivalent discipline
  • Extensive hydrogeological experience in some or all of the following areas:
    • Public water supply and wastewater management
    • Asset investment decision making
    • Managed aquifer recharge
    • Groundwater flow and solute modelling and the assessment of modelling uncertainty
    • Water resource allocation planning and licencing
    • Construction of investigation, production, recharge and monitoring wells
    • Subsurface data management
  • Proven ability to prepare, review and present technical information to a range of audiences.
  • Proven ability to successfully collaborate with, and influence, a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
