Maribyrnong City Council is undergoing significant change in population growth, redevelopment, and a transitioning economy is leading to an influx of new residents, businesses and opportunities. Maribyrnong is becoming a sought after residential area and a destination for foodies.
Our Regulatory Services Department is recruiting for an Assistant Building Surveyor to provide support and assistance to our Building Services Surveyors and Inspectors.
The preferred candidate will ideally have 1 to 2 years minimum working experience in Building Surveying and previously worked in a Building Services team; and within a Local Government setting would be highly desirable.
You will have experience assessing Council Reports & Consents under the relevant building legislation, in particular Build over Easements, Land liable to flood, designated land or works and Protection of the public, would be highly advantageous.
You will have relevant tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying, possess a high level of knowledge and understanding of the Building Act and the Building Regulations. In addition, you will have excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, strong organisational and time management skills and demonstrate effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
