Recreation and Open Space Planner

1 x Permanent Full Time - 35 hours, 5 days per week

Liverpool City Council is seeking interest from the right candidate to join Council’s influential and energetic Community Planning team. Reporting to the Coordinator Community Planning, you will be responsible for planning of recreation, open space and sports facilities across the Liverpool LGA, in line with Council’s Recreation, Open Space and Sport Strategy, as well as contributing to the planning and delivery of social infrastructure.

You will do this by:

  • Establishing the evidence base for decision making;
  • Strategy and policy development;
  • Planning of facilities and services that meet the needs of the community;
  • Cultivating relationships with internal stakeholders and developing and maintaining partnerships with external agencies;
  • Developing plans of management that will provide guidance on the use and maintenance of community land.
  • Reviewing social impact assessments and providing comment on relevant planning proposals.

You will hold tertiary qualifications in recreation and open space planning, leisure studies, urban planning or equivalent and have at least 3 years’ experience in a related role. You will have well developed knowledge of the issues facing regions experiencing significant growth, place-making practices and the effects of urban planning on community well-being. You will be a strategic thinker and passionate about social justice. Flexibility including the ability to manage competing priorities and a can-do attitude is a must.

Salary will be dependent upon the relevant skills, experience and competencies of the successful applicant.
