THE ORGANISATION The Hunter Councils Environment Division (HCED) provides environmental management support, services, and programs to its member councils across the Hunter, Central, and Lower North Coast region of NSW. The Division is responsible for delivering the long running and multi-award winning Hunter and Central Coast Regional Environmental Management Strategy (HCCREMS); and the Hunter Region Waste Avoidance & Resource Recovery Strategy. The Division currently has a team of 9 core staff who work with consultants, researchers, project partners, agencies and professional networks to design and deliver a range of collaborative regional environmental and natural resource management initiatives.
In 2014 the Division, in collaboration with the region’s councils developed the Hunter Region Waste Avoidance & Resource Recovery Strategy and Regional Waste Education Implementation Plan, which provides the framework for regional waste management and waste education programs and initiatives.
