The Position

Working within the Community Cultural and Economic Development Division at Council, the Communications and Marketing Manager will lead a talented and high performing team to develop and deliver strategic and innovative approaches to communications, media and marketing initiatives for the organisation.

Internally, you will work closely with the Divisional Management Team and other stakeholders to provide high-level support, technical expertise, strategic advice and oversight to all things marketing and communications. Your combination of leadership and technical expertise will also be utilised to deliver a coordinated and proactive approach to support our leaders in building capacity across all Divisions of Council.

Externally, you will work with other stakeholders such as members of the public and community/local business to promote Council’s role in the community. Excellent issue management and crisis communication is a must.

Your success in this role will be demonstrated by your:

  • Creative and innovative approach to marketing and communications strategies
  • Strong leadership skills and an ability to drive team performance
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills with an ability to engage across all levels of the business as well as external stakeholders
  • Extensive knowledge of media operations, from digital to print media

This is a temporary maternity leave coverage opportunity. The successful candidate would expect to commence in early October 2022, and be employed for a period of 12 months, subject to organisational requirements.
