The Opportunity

Moonee Valley City Council are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated and driven candidates who would like to join our team as Apprentice Gardener; you will assist in the care, maintenance and enhancement of the physical environment within the municipality. Seeking hardworking and keen people who wants to develop skills and build a career. Our aim to create an inclusive environment for every team member to have a positive and rewarding work experience through this 3-year apprenticeship program.

Reporting directly to the Queens Park Team Leader, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Ensuring the safe and effective, operation and maintenance of plant, machinery, tools and equipment;
  • On job training in specialised garden maintenance that ensure sustainable, high quality presentation of Horticultural sites;
  • Reporting on any issues relating to facilities and resources, customer queries / complaints and the status of works, machinery, tools and equipment

About You

To be suitable for this position, you will possess:

  • Enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn new skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Prior work experience or strong interest in horticulture or a related field
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate and maintain plant, machinery, tools and equipment relevant to the maintenance of parks and reserves
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
