Library Assistant - Customer Service Desk



Part Time - 14.25 hours per week

Hourly Rate: $27.55 to $32.21 ph + 10% super + transport allowance

Stanton Library is a quality customer focused library service located in a beautiful park setting near a busy CBD, close to public transport and recreational facilities. There is currently an exciting opportunity for a motivated Library Assistant to join the supportive team at Stanton Library.

We are currently seeking temporary library assistants to work on the customer service desk at Stanton Library, assisting library borrowers with a wide variety of tasks such as lending, returning and renewing library items, new memberships, basic enquiries and the use of library equipment. This position would suit a library studies student or recent graduate looking to obtain experience in a professional workplace. 

Available Shifts are as follows: 

Part Time Role - 14.25 hours per week 

Monday 8.45am-1pm

Wednesday 5pm-8.15pm

Friday 2pm-5pm

Saturday 9.45am-1.30pm

Availability for shifts across the full range of Library opening hours will be highly regarded.

Essential Criteria 

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge, interest and experience in the public library environment.
  • Demonstrated proactive, problem solving approach
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift books and equipment using appropriate manual handling techniques.
  • Knowledge of WHS & EEO principles and practice

Desirable

  • Library Certificate/ Diploma or progress towards a qualification recognised for professional membership of ALIA.
  • Experience in the provision of frontline library services and a demonstrated client focus.
  • Knowledge of the Aurora Library Management System
  • Vaccinated against COVID-19
