Ranger/Biosecurity Officer


Enjoy working outside? Looking for variety? An exciting opportunity exists to join Councils Growth and Activation team undertaking enforcement, monitoring and management activities including animal control, traffic control (including parking), environmental and public place issues in the Tumut region.

Key components of this position include:

  • Enforcing legislation and council policies and procedures.
  • Addressing breaches including issue of Penalty Infringement Notices or other action.
  • Maintaining and operating animal seizure equipment, undertaking animal control patrols,  seizures and impounds and disposal of euthanized or other dead animals.
  • Developing management plans and strategies in relation to animal control and biosecurity  management.
  • Maintaining and operating the council’s animal seizure equipment, undertake animal control  patrols, seizures and impounds and disposal of euthanized or other dead animals to ensure  compliance and the safety of the community.
  • Delivering community education programs on compliance issues.

The successful applicant will be located at our Tumut office, with travel to other locations as required.

A Certificate IV in Local Government Regulatory Services or equivalent and contemporary experience ensuring the implementation of various Acts, Regulations, Codes and Policies is essential.

SALARY

Salary will be paid in accordance with the Snowy Valleys Council Salary System at Grade 8  ranging from $2,687 per fortnight (gross) plus 10% superannuation depending on skills, experience and education.

A work vehicle will be provided for business use.

Participation in an on call roster is an expectation of this position.
