About the Role

As a Ranger, your technical expertise will be highly regarded in providing regulatory monitoring and enforcement throughout the Shire. You will display, support and promote a strong customer service focus in providing advice and information to staff and general public on ranger related matters. The role requires you to undertake investigations, site inspections, create and serve prosecution notices and witness summonses, as well as conduct prosecutions in the Magistrates Courts and representing the Shire at the State Administration Tribunal. This is an operational role and as such Rangers are rostered for duty on a rotating roster which provides operational coverage seven days a week, including public holidays.

To be successful in this position you will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Working knowledge and understanding of all Ranger related Statutes, Acts, Regulations, Local Laws and Policies
  • Sound animal handling skills with both livestock and domestic animals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with strong letter and report writing skills
  • Attend call outs after hours where required and in accordance with agreement and award conditions.
  • Liaise effectively with external agencies including WA Police, local emergency groups and other stakeholders
  • Maintain the pound and pound records.
  • Valid ‘C’ class drivers’ licence.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Ranger with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to protect, support and positively promote Community Safety within our Shire and community. COVID 19 Vaccination Requirements

In-line with State Government requirements, the successful candidate for this position may be required to provide evidence that they are fully vaccinated and able to attend the Shire’s premises / sites in the event of a lockdown, by providing a copy of their digital vaccination certificate to be stored securely by the Shire.
