About the Role

As a Planning Officer, you will be responsible for working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, to assist with the assessment of fast track/simple development applications and be able to provide advice to Council.

Some of your core functions include:

  • Assessment of planning applications in an efficient manner within statutory timeframes for signing by Manager Statutory Planning and Compliance.
  • Provide a weekly report on the status of all development applications.
  • Assess Town Planning Scheme Amendments, Subdivision applications, Detailed Area Plans and Local Structure Plans.
  • Represent Council at the State Administrative Tribunal.
  • Prepare reports to Council on planning matters.

About you

We are looking for a motivated and driven Statutory Planning professional, with a positive attitude and strong team focus to join our Statutory Planning and Compliance Team. For this position, you will have a strong background of assessing development applications. In addition, your communication skills will be excellent, as you will liaise with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and present clear and concise reports to Council, which will allow you to make a great contribution to the Community as we build a city.

COVID 19 Vaccination Requirements

In-line with State Government requirements, the successful candidate for this position may be required to provide evidence that they are fully vaccinated and able to attend the Shire’s premises / sites in the event of a lockdown, by providing a copy of their digital vaccination certificate to be stored securely by the Shire.
