• Salary range $85,767 - $90,340.  Starting salary depending on experience
• Generous superannuation up to 15.25%

The City of Busselton, located in the picturesque South West of WA, is a dynamic and fast-growing local government authority.  As an organisation, we are dedicated to meeting the challenges presented by such growth and are currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Technical Officer – Design to join our team.

Reporting to the Design and Survey Coordinator, you will be responsible for the provision of quality, timely and cost effective designs and estimates for the City’s infrastructure renewals, upgrades and town centre enhancements.  You will be required to use your expertise to provide technical advice and solutions to address complex design issues, and contribute to the development of standards, specifications and policies relating to infrastructure development.  You will also oversee the use and development of the City’s CAD and Civil Design software, and oversee the work of other Technical Officers, providing support and mentorship.

To be considered for this role you must have:

• A qualification in Civil Engineering or extensive experience in Civil Engineering Design or a similar discipline;
• Extensive experience and knowledge of civil engineering design, primarily in the areas of road drainage and the provision of civil infrastructure;
• Highly developed initiative and judgment;
• Highly developed verbal and written communication skills – ability to communicate with all members of public sector agencies and private organisations, prepare reports and correspondence;
• Developed knowledge and experience of estimating, budgeting and project administration;
• Comprehensive knowledge and use of MicroStation and 12D Civil Design software and Microsoft Office packages;
• The ability to liaise and work with multi-disciplined teams to achieve project outcomes within agreed timeframes.

Experience of local government, along with experience of environmental, coastal and structural engineering design would be highly regarded, as would previous experience with grant applications and acquittals.  Applicants must also have a current ‘C’ class driver’s licence and White/Blue card, and be able to provide a National Police Clearance no more than six months old.
