Located in the beautiful Southern Highlands of NSW, 1.5 hours south-west of Sydney -

About us and what we are looking for:

At Council we are undergoing an exciting period of transformation and are looking for a talented Management Accountant to provide financial expertise to managers and staff to support sustainable decision-making and maximise the financial performance of Council.

About the role:

  • Contribute to the timely and accurate preparation of the annual budget, long term financial plan, quarterly and monthly financial management reports, capital works reports, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Development of financial management systems that enhance the quality and timeliness of all management and budgetary performance monitoring information.
  • Work across the management accounting function to deliver effective finance business partnering across the organisation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, accounting standards and all Council policies and procedures.
  • Provide input into Council policy and strategic documents as it relates to best practice accounting services.
  • Drive improvements in processes and procedures.

About you:

  • Degree in Finance or Business (Accounting Major). 
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar accounting position, with the ability to prepare and review complex reconciliations and the completion of financial reports. 
  • Sound knowledge and experience in applying accounting policies, principles and accounting standards. 
  • Ability to work across the organisation to understand business requirements as applicable to budgeting. 
  • Ability to drive change through policy, procedural and system improvements. 
  • Strong spreadsheet and database skills within the Microsoft Office Environment. 
  • A high level of interpersonal, presentation and communication (verbal and written) skills. 
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • High attention to detail and ability to prioritise and complete tasks efficiently and to deadlines.
