About the Opportunity - both positions report to the Planning Team Leader and will be sitting within the Development Department of Council.  The successful applicants will work closely with Building, Engineering and Public Health staff in a collaborative, supportive and happy work environment.   We are looking for passionate, customer focused and team oriented Planners with all levels of experience.

Both Positions are permanent full time, however, we are happy to negotiate part time if this is what the successful candidate would prefer.  All IT equipment comes with the position.  

Position 1 will encompass both Strategic and Statutory Planning, although past experience in only one of the disciplines is required.  You will be responsible for providing advice and assistance to Council and the public on planning matters, enquiries, and process development applications. In this position you will continue to develop your skills and planning knowledge and take the next step in your career.  You will be exposed to a variety of use and development applications, from large scale subdivisions and industrial development to agricultural and tourism proposals.

Position 2 is more suited to a first year out of university or graduate position where you will gain experience and build networks in a supporting team environment.  You will not be limited to processing applications for small scale proposals but get the opportunity to work as part of an assessment team on more complex approvals.

About You To be considered for one of these exciting opportunities, we are seeking individuals that are tertiary qualified with demonstrated experience in the planning field, either in state/local government or private practice.

You will have well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise and clearly communicate with members of the public, applicants, colleagues and other Council departments and a strong knowledge of planning principles, policies, practices, and legislation.  Council have a focus on creating a great place where our communities and live, work or play.
